Prom Makeup for that Stylish Look
Prom exemplifies new glamorous trends then how about getting the most charming and trendy prom makeover for that stunning looks. Making a good prom pick is the first step for your proms, but it remains incomplete without proper make over. Make over is an art and there’s always a lot to talk about. Right from basic strokes to finishing touches it can make you divulge as a completely different persona. Make up should be flawless and enhance your looks. Right proportion and the right make up will make your way to charming looks depending on your prom dress, your face, skin, mood and above all the quality of make up. Are you fair-skinned, olive complexion, dark-skinned? It’s important to note these qualities to decipher the type of make-up to flatter your looks. You need to carry these seven indispensables in your make up kitty if you are bent to make it big this prom night.
Concealer

Essentially the word ‘concealer’ implies concealing or hiding and it is used to hide any skin blemishes- scars, spots, tattoos on your skin. It comes as a tube, liquid, or sticks and can be applied even under your eyes to hide dark circles or above the eyes to hide reddish eyelids.

  • Choose a concealer nearest to your skin tone if you have no blemishes or scars.
  • In case you have scars or blemishes then go ahead for the concealer color that corrects temporary discoloration.
  • Choose a yellow or green concealer if the discoloration is red. If the discoloration is bluish as in under your eyes, you can choose orange concealer.
Concealer balances the skin color and makes it neutral, so that on applying foundation, blush or eye shadow, the original discoloration vanishes. In case you are not sure what to select, then visit the makeup counters of large stores and ask them for help.
Foundation or Powder

Foundations should be used for that extra glow on the prom night. It works similar to the concealer, and hides or conceals light blemishes and softens the skin by filling the pores.

  • Choose a liquid foundation which provide medium to light coverage and is good for all skin types.
  • A cream foundation is best for normal to dry skin and a powder form is ideal for oily skins.
  • A matte foundation could be used but many woman try foundations that have yellow undertones and for a dark skinned women, a foundation with a slight blue cast works best.
But ideally it is not advisable to use foundation for women under 30 as there skin is young enough for it to be used as corrective filler. Foundation can sometimes give you a plastic look which can be daunting to your overall appearance.
Blush

Blush gives a subtle touch to your cheeks and infuses a fresh rosy life to your face. So don’t miss to blush on after wearing concealer and foundation. Simply follow some basic blush on techniques and you will shin through the prom event –

  • Don’t overdo blush as that makes you look gaudy and too unnatural. You should always wear a make up that enhance your natural beauty and makes you look more natural.
  • Start by drawing an imaginary line downwards from the center of each eye. Move the blusher from that line outward (i.e., towards the ear).
  • Apply the blush from your hair line downwards, never upwards. Because this will leave a blob of color on your cheek since you can’t help putting the brush down in the same place over and over again as you start your stroke.
Blush on should be used in the right amount as too much of it will ruin your prom makeup. Try out sparkling shimmer dust on your cheeks and shoulders if you are going to dress up in a strapless outfit.
Eye Make Up

Eyes are a world in itself. They are more expressive and communicative even than words. So to make your eyes talk while you walk in prom, all you need is to groom them and there you are to take the world in its sway.

  • First and foremost to go for a threading of the eyebrows and get them in proper shape. Use an eyebrow pencil to make your eyebrows more prominent and dark.
  • Eye lashes can be curled to impart a different look to your lashes making them appear stylishly longer.
Before you start eye make up, dust eyelid with a dampened brush and a little face powder. This will help to prevent your shadow from melting.
Eye Liner

Use eyeliners or eye pencils to make well-defined borders around your eyes for a bold and confident look.

  • Use a thicker or stronger line above than below for a natural expression.
  • You can make upper and lower lining equal for a gothic look.
  • Eyeliner is the next one in line and the trendy colors this season are charcoal, navy, or brown.
Eye shadow

Eye shadows make the eye lids attractive and prominent. Apply an eye shadow base which makes the eye shadow applied to it more attractive and long lasting and avoid creasing of the eye lids.

  • You can wear a single color, in your regular days but on your prom special, you should work with two colors.
  • Apply the lightest color first, all the way across your eyelids, then you can add the second color to taste, usually about a third the thickness of the first color, and always, blend it to the first one.
  • Choose three shades in the same color family - light, medium and a darker shade for contrast
  • Apply the lightest shade on the entire lid from brow to lash line.
  • The medium shade is going to bring out the color of your eyes. Apply from lash line to just above the crease.
  • The darkest color is going to be applied close to the lashes. Dampen the brush and then pick up a little color. Smudge it in around the lash base. If you have bags beneath your eyes, you might want to only line the top lashes.
  • Try using shimmer shadow on your eyelids and experiment with pastels, silvers or gold.
  • Apply the lightest color first, all the way across your eyelids, then you can add the second color to taste, usually about a third the thickness of the first color, and always, blend it to the first one.

Mascara
Mascara is must have essential to complete your look. So unless you have got eyelashes like cables, you should wear mascara. It gives volume to your eyes, and sensuousness to your glance. It will enhance your look when used with eye liner and eye shadow. But if you miss to wear it your eyes will look incomplete everyone around will feel your face is missing something essential.
Lip Color
